Fun Fall Activities in Minnesota for the Whole Family!

The seasons are a’changing! While many people mourn the warmer summer days, plenty are wrapping up in their cozy scarves and hiking boots to start fall off right. From football games to apple picking, pumpkin patches and the beautiful fall colors, there are plenty of fall activities in Minnesota for the whole family to enjoy!

Apple Picking

Minnesota is one of the best places to pick fresh apples for pies, cider, or to enjoy as a healthy snack! There are several orchards within a few miles of the Twin Cities, making it easy for the whole family to pack up and enjoy the crisp fall weather.

Bike the City

Minneapolis is considered one of the top bicycle friendly cities in the country, and fall is the perfect time to hit the trails. Bicycles are available for rent through Nice Ride, or splurge and get a surrey bicycle (a four wheel bicycle that can seat up to six people) from Wheel Fun Rentals to bike with the whole family! Explore a wide selection of trails all across the city and view the changing fall colors while getting some fantastic exercise.

Harvest Festivals

Hayrides, corn mazes, pumpkin patches, face painting … harvest festivals have tons of fun for everyone! The Stillwater Harvest Fest and pumpkin weigh-off offers several fall activities along the stunning St. Croix River, or check out Johnny Appleseed Day for pie-eating contests, book sales, and plenty of arts and crafts!

Visit a Museum

During those rainy, chilly days, Minnesota has a variety of museums and hands-on exhibits to keep everyone in the family entertained. This September, head to the Minnesota History Center for the opening of “Gridiron Glory: the Best of the Pro Football Hall of Fame” or the Science Museum of Minnesota for the popular “Sportsology” exhibit! A few other museums for children of all ages:

  • Firefighters Hall & Museum

  • Mill City Museum

  • MIA (Minneapolis Institute of Art)

The fall is a great time to explore a plethora of activities all across Minnesota! Whether you’re looking for a fun afternoon in a pumpkin patch or some rainy day fun, fall is the perfect time to try something new.
